Lawrence Anthony (1950 – 2012) is a legend in South Africa and author of the bestseller „The Elephant Whisperer“. He saved elephants around the world from human cruelty.
Lawrence Anthony died on 7 March 2012. Two days after his death, wild elephants came to his house – led by two large, old female elephants to say goodbye to their beloved human friend. A herd of 31 elephants set out 12 miles away to reach his South African home. Two days and two nights.
They formed a line and walked slowly, as if in a solemn procession, through the wild bush to his house. The elephants apparently wished to pay their deep respects to their human friend for having saved their lives. Witnesses to this spectacle were deeply moved by this obvious reverence, the higher intelligence, and the precise timing of the elephants after Lawrence's death.
